About Us | Staff & Board | Partners & Links
Klamath Riverkeeper's projects and campaigns restore water quality on the Klamath River, bringing vitality and abundance back to the river and its people. We are committed to making the Klamath fishable and swimmable again, and to working with all people who need clean water and healthy fisheries in the Klamath Watershed. We work closely the Klamath River tribes, fishermen, and recreational groups, in all aspects of our programs. We apply a variation of our four-pronged approach to all of our campaigns and projects:
- Expert-informed policy advocacy within existing regulatory processes
- A legal strategy
- Grassroots outreach & education
- Scientific needs analysis & water quality monitoring
We have an active membership of people from all over the Western States, and many Klamath River residents. If you are as passionate about the Klamath River as we are, consider joining us and offering your valuable input and ideas!
Staff & Board of Directors
Regina Chichizola
Executive Director & Riverkeeper
regina [at] klamathriver.org
Regina has lived on the Klamath River for 9 years supporting old growth forests, the Klamath River watershed, and Native American sacred lands and subsistence struggles. Using legal research, public commenting, field documentation, grass roots organizing, media strategizing, and litigation, she has expanded the work of the Klamath Forest Alliance, the Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center, the Headwaters Redwood Forest Campaign, the Dillon Creek Salvage Rider Campaign, and the Karuk Tribe's Klamath Restoration Council. Most recently, Regina has been focusing on the Klamath fisheries and water quality, proper forest and road management on public lands, and the campaign to take down the Klamath dams. She looks forward to working with the communities of the Klamath River to make the Klamath River fishable and swimmable again. Regina is pictured here with Ron Reed of the Karuk Tribe and Dan Bacher of Fish Sniffer Magazine at a rally on San Francisco Bay.
Malena Marvin
Outreach & Science Director
malena [at] klamathriver.org
Malena has a professional background as a community organizer, field biologist, wilderness guide, sea kayaking instructor, and in conservation planning and nonprofit development. Most recently she interned with the Alaska Conservation Foundation and the Southeast Alaska Watershed Council Association, and worked with Nature Conservancy Alaska as a conservation action planner. For her Master of Science in Environmental Education from Southern Oregon University (2007), Malena focused on the watershed sciences with an emphasis on communicating science to the public. She specialized in environmental history of the American West for her BA in History from Reed College (2001). Born and raised in Southern Oregon, Malena is crazy about wild salmon and wild rivers. As a kayaker and flyfisher, she believes strongly in every river’s inherent right to be clean, wild, and full of fish. Malena is pictured here helping out a commercial salmon fisherman in Yakutat Bay, Alaska.
